Addictions

So throughout my life I have had many addictions, not drugs mind you, but things I collect and am obsessed with. The longest one is definitely my music collection, which will never go away, but one that has resurfaced within the last few months is my love of comics. I've been going to different comic shops every week and am dropping $20 to $60 every week on comics, it's insane but I can't stop. There is so much out there that is just amazing. The most recent book I read was Superman: The Red Son, and the premise of the book is what if Superman landed in the Soviet Union instead of America during the cold war. This book was fantastic and there is a crazy twist at the end, so if you like comics or if you just like Superman then I recommend checking out this book.

Web 2.0 - Another Dot Com Crash?

I read this article today sent to me by my friend Matt Caron. The author is John Dvorak and he goes dives into the comparison to the dot com crash and the recent Web 2.0 buzz. This is a very interesting read and makes you think about how the web is very user generated content based these days. I recommend you give it a go.

The Deathly Hallows

So this weekend the family and I went to Borders for the Harry Potter midnight sale, however we didn't reserve a copy. We got to Borders around 6:30 pm and discovered that they had so many reserved copies that they were unsure if there would be any books left. They had 7 tiers opened for the people who reserved the book, so we kind of gave up on that idea, but we did go back for the party that started at 8 pm and I was floored at how many people were there and in costume. They had a live band, all the major Hogwarts classes were represented and they actually had a Dueling Arena for kids to practice their "spell casting," it was amazing.

Well the family and I actually did get copies, but not from any major bookstore. Prior to going to Borders for the Potter Party, we went to Target and they weren't doing a midnight sale and would have copies available in the morning, so we got up at 7:30 am on Saturday and went to Target and walked out with two copies.

My wife and daughter have finished the book and I'm only 200 pages away from completing it and so far it is INCREDIBLE. If you haven't read this series then there is something wrong with you. This is definitely one of the best fantasy series since The Lord of the Rings or The Chronicles of Narnia. I am so excited about this book but at the same time I'm saddened to say goodbye to Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hogwarts etc. I have been reading about their adventures for the last 6 years and now it's over, but I feel these books will live on.

So with this post I would like to raise my cup to J.K. Rowling for writing some of the best and timeless fantasy for all of us and I would like to raise my cup to Mr. Harry Potter, you will be with us always.

Not lazy just incredibly busy

So months ago I said I was going to redesign my site and to "keep a look out" for it. Well work and music has prevented that from happening. I've been very very busy at .Com Marketing that past few months, up until recently that is. I actually was able to hire a team member, his name is Matt Caron and he is my saving grace.

As for the band, we're just super busy with playing shows, recording and promoting. We have a manager now and her name is Michelle Morris, who previously worked with Pulse Nein and others. Also we're working on a 5 song ep with Brett Hestla (Singer/Dark New Day) that we will be releasing this fall. To hear some of our music click on one of the following URL's.

That's all for now.

New Site Coming Soon...

So I think it's about time to update this site, plus I don't think it's very unorganized. Well work has been keeping me pretty busy, and not that that's a bad thing but I'm really bogged down. Hopefully soon they'll let me hire some help.

But on an awesome note I finally got my hands on a Nintendo Wii a couple weeks ago and one word comes to mind; AMAZING. Everyone should own one of these and you can download old school Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Turbo Graffix 16 and Sega Genesis games. All in all it's the best thing ever.

Well keep a look out for the new site and new items for the portfolio and just me ranting about nonsense, well cause this is my blog and I can. Until then...

Missed Marketing - Mobile Spam

So I read a post on Adverblog today talking about Missed Call Marketing. Apparently mobile marketers have found a way to "SPAM" your phone by calling letting it ring once then hang up. Now what was said in the article is that by hanging up after one ring most people will call back based off of curiosity, worry etc. and will receive an automated promotion. I know this is bad because it is technically spam but at the same time it's completely genius.

New Job

So I know it's been a while since I last posted but a lot has happened since then. I recently left MindComet and am now the Creative Development Manager for .Com Marketing. This was an amazing opportunity that I couldn't pass up. So as time goes on I will be posting to this blog more frequently (hopefully) and keep you all up to date on me and new technologies I'm discovering. But for right now everyone should go to Linked In and create a profile. Linked In is essentially the myspace but for professionals. If you create an account definitely look for me.

Blog Optimization

So while at work today my buddy Andy sent me a link to a very interesting article. It pertains to Blog Optimization, how to compete with a flooded market and ultimately how can I make some money. With blogger recently implementing Google's AdSense functionality it seems like everyone is jumping on the affiliate marketing band wagon. Nonetheless it is a very interesting read. Give it a go.
